Open Source - 5-December-2008

Indoor Tracking business InLocality is pleased to announce their sponsorship of work on an Open Source project.

As part of it's product development, InLocality have relied heavily on the Open Source community. Our standalone Bluetooth Ethernet Base Stations are based on Open Source Software.

"But Open Source did not meet the full requirements of InLocality" commented Indoor Tracking company InLocality CEO Darryl Smith. "Most of the building blocks were there, but one or two things were missing."

So, rather than rely on the Open Source community to develop the new capabilities for the benefit of InLocality, a new solution was found. InLocality hired a developer to update the code base. The programmer was only too happy to be paid to work on an open source project.

According to Smith, using extending Open Source software saved money for the rapidly growing InLocality. But the savings were not only in development. The work has also placed another Open Source tool into the Open Source Linux distribution used by InLocality saving significant time and effort when it comes to manufacturing their new device.
